Vicky Foxcroft MP congratulates VFP and organizations receiving funding from DCT 2025

British MP Vicky Foxcroft (Labour Party), representing the Lewisham North constituency, through the Viet News UK page, congratulates Vietnam Family Partnership (VFP) and the organizations that received grants from the Deptford Challenge Trust 2025:

Earlier, on her personal Facebook page, she shared:

Last Thursday night, I had the honour of attending the Deptford Challenge Trust’s (DCT) Annual Awards Ceremony at the Moonshot Centre. Several charities and organizations serving the Deptford community were awarded grants that will be vital in continuing and expanding their important work. It was fantastic to meet some of the grant recipients, including Vietnamese Family Partnership, Urban Synergy Mentoring, and Bench Outreach.

Talking to Viet News UK CIC, whose representative, senior editorial advisor Giang Nguyen, was attending the event, Vicky Foxcroft, Member of Parliament for Lewisham North, shared the following message:

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Des Malone and Deptford Challenge Trust (DCT) for many years now. Des is also a great supporter of the charity I chair, Deptford First.

“Deptford and New Cross are full of people who want to make a positive contribution to their community, and it is wonderful to see so many projects and organizations — both large and small — benefiting from DCT grants. Without DCT’s funding, many of them would not be able to continue.

“Huge congratulations to all of this year’s recipients, including the Vietnamese Family Partnership, who do vital work supporting the Vietnamese community in my constituency.”

Attending the event, at the invitation of DFT, Mr. Nguyễn Giang also congratulated Ms. Quỳnh Nguyễn and two VFP board members on these meaningful achievements.

He also discussed community activities with representatives from many organizations in the Greenwich and Deptford area, which currently have charitable projects, environmental protection initiatives, support for youth groups and ethnic communities through education (Creekside Discovery Centre), music (such as Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance), and agreed on the need to exchange information to serve the local community.

The Deptford Challenge Trust (DCT) is a grant-making charitable trust which aims to improve the quality of life for people who live and work in a defined area of Lewisham, covering Deptford and parts of New Cross.

The Deptford Challenge Trust (DCT) was established in 1997. It was incorporated as a charitable company on June 23, 1997, and registered as a charity on July 9, 1998. The Trust was initially part of the national City Challenge regeneration program in Greater London.

Vietnamese Family Partnership (VFP) or ‘Gia Đình Việt’ in Vietnamese, is a London-based, grassroots charity and the parent organisation of VietSchool London. VFP’s mission is to connect the Vietnamese community and help them thrive in the UK and beyond.

Vicky Foxcrof was first elected to the House of Commons in 2014 to represent Lewisham North (previously named Lewisham Deptford).

Previously, she had had many years of experience in local politics, serving as a local councillor Brockley war (2010-14) and was re-elected in 2017 to the House of Commons with an increased majority of 34,899 (63.3% of the vote).

She has lived in Lewisham North for well over 15 years now and says to have “an absolute pleasure to represent the people and places I have got to know and love in that time.”

The event took place on the 3rd of July in the Moonshot Centre, Deptford:
